Spring is in the air and the CWA membership pack is in the post - sure signs that the Annual General Meeting is just around the corner: Wednesday September 1 from 7:30pm, at the Ferry Speights Ale House.

On the agenda is the usual spring clean of the committee, and while many on the current committee will be standing again, here is the opportunity for you to get involved and put your name forward to help shape the local windsports scene.

Examples of our recent achievements range from obtaining funding for learner windsurf gear and storage, to organising successful events and workshops, and maintaining enhanced access for members at The Estuary Windsurf Area and Naval Point in Lyttelton Harbour.

There's also a draw for financial members to win a FREE CWA CAP or BEANIE, plus we have a limited run of CWA TEE SHIRTS at a SPECIAL AGM price of $25.

Estuary Kite Launch Area ACCESS

John Thyne
PDF

The CCC Park Rangers have asked that each vehicle closes the swing gate after it passes through, and that the last one out closes it and locks up, in order to keep the vehicles of non-windsports users out. They say the kite launch area and car park is on private land, and that we're privileged to be there, so please let's give it a go to show them we care. Signage will be established to clarify this, and we're considering a self closing mechanism on the gate to make life as easy as possible. So please let's give it a go to show them we care.

Here's the plan in full: A core group of trusted CWA kiters know the padlock code and open up when kiting is on; the gate is closed as we pass through; the last one to leave closes and locks both the cable and the gate, for which you need the code - if you don't then get to know your fellow CWA kiters, or ask me. Otherwise it's left to security who arrive late at night, and in the meantime the vandals have a field day.  Thanks, John.
