Big Congratulations to Annie Crombie and Terry Beentjies for taking out the Women's and Men's Canterbury Champs Titles for 2018.
Results below for the days racing, great turnout for the day and well done for everybody who got on the water and raced.
Racing was held on Sunday 18th March in a tricky gusty Nor-East breeze on Lyttleton Harbour. We managed to get 6 races away but sailing was not easy. Big gusts on one side of the course and even bigger holes on the other made picking the right gear to sail on a lucky dip. Terry was rewarded for his consistent sailing and smooth skills convincingly winning the overall title and finishing either first or second in every race, very impressive. Everybody sailed really well considering how tricky the conditions were.
Special mention to Aaron White who traveled over from the West Coast to join in the racing. He had flyer in winning the first race and showed great speed during the day, it was awesome having him travel and join in the event.
Thanks to Greg Bowater and Adriel for doing the rescue boat and race officer duties, racing is not possible without people helping out and it is much appreciated.
The racing was great practice for the CWA members who are heading up to Wellington for the Slalom Nationals at Easter. Good luck to Chris Dimock, Tom O'Niell and Josh Dalley who are representing CWA.
Keep an eye out for CWA prize giving later in April, looking forward to seeing everybody there.
