The CWA works to foster participation in local windsports.
The CWA had its beginnings in the early 1990's as the Canterbury Windsurfing Association. As the original name suggests, it was initially formed by and for windsurfers. In 2005 it changed its name to the Canterbury Windsports Association in recognition of the growth of kiting, and wider interest in windsports on water, land and snow.
At the height of the summer season we average close to 100 memberships (juniors, individuals, and families). Apart from the fun in associating with other wind surfers and kiters, there are some other benefits:
- Collective membership adds weight to our work with local authorities to protect and enhance the locations we use.
- Discounted entry to CWA organised events and competitions to keep you motivated and improve your skills.
- Access to learner windsurf gear at club events, and to members only information on the website (e.g. padlock numbers to the Lyttelton and Estuary windsurf /kite areas).
The CWA membership year runs from July 1 to June 30 - you can register and pay @ Members> Membership Options.
