Canterbury Windsports Association Inc. - Windsurfing and kiting, in and around Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand

About us

Objectives

The CWA works to foster all wind sports.

History

The CWA started in the early 1990's as the Canterbury Windsurfing Association. As that name suggests, it was originally formed by and for windsurfers. In 2005 the name was changed to the Canterbury Windsports Association in recognition of the growth of kiting, and wider interest in wind sports on water, land and snow. Recent developments in foiling and wing-ing should see the CWA sail well into the future.

Membership Benefits

At the height of the summer season the CWA averages close to 100 memberships (juniors, individuals, and families). Apart from the value in associating with like minded wind sport enthusiasts, membership provides the following benefits:

  • Protects the locations we use by adding collective weight to our status as a stakeholder when dealing with local authorities.
  • Discounted entry to CWA events to keep you motivated and improve your skills.
  • Access to learner windsurf gear at club events.
  • Website login access to Members info such as the padlock number to the Estuary windsurf/kite area.

CWA membership runs from July 1 to June 30 - you can register and pay @ Members> Membership Options.
